In Montreal, a sidewalk sale is also called a vente trottoir (that's French for "sale sidewalk") or braderie (that's French for discount market), or even foire commerciale (and that's French for commercial fair). While typically associated with Montreal's more popular summer events, these street fairs start as early as May, with Montreal's sidewalk sale season ending by mid-September, sometimes October. Great shopping deals, cheap eats, live entertainment and activities for kids are often part of the experience, ideal for anyone snooping for sales as well as families looking for something to do that pleases the whole clan.
