Montreal Snow Festival La Fête des neiges turns Parc Jean-Drapeau into a winter wonderland, featuring activities for kids big and small as well as for adults.
The Montreal Snow Festival 2014 edition, running every weekend from January 18 to February 9, 2014, proposes new features as well as old favorites, highlights I'm convinced you and your kids are going to love. Some are free, some are not. Note that admission to the grounds themselves is free. Parking is $16 to $18 for the day. Many activities cost extra. Parents must buy coupons at $2 a piece.
The Polar Circus
"The big Polar Circus is back again this year with its colorful collection of characters. They'll need some help staging the exciting and hilarious acts that are filled with magic and surprises..." The circus runs frequently, on a loop, throughout the Snow Festival.
As much as Montreal Snow Festival Fête des neiges is free, many of its activities are not and those extra fees add up quickly, which is why I love "The Pass." It gives pass holders unlimited access to tube sliding, the family zipline and the ferris wheel throughout the duration of the fest. The pass costs $16 for ages 12 and up, $10 for ages 3 to 11, and a family pass costs $46 (one family pass covers 2 family members ages 12 and up and 2 family members ages 3 to 11).
The Skater's Trail
I love this skating destination. Here's why. Note that admission is free. Ice skate rentals cost $9 for two hours and $4.50 for every extra 30 minutes.
