Thanksgiving
Do we celebrate Thanksgiving in Montreal? Some say no, others claim yes. It you define the holiday by turkey and family, well ... I personally had my first holiday "turkey-style" dinner with friends, at the age of 19, and that was Christmas. But if you define Thanksgiving as more of an extended weekend with a smidgen of family (or the equivalent) over for a day of food consumption more likely to involve smoked mackerel than turkey, then yes, we do celebrate Thanksgiving in Montreal. But some of us go all out and do the turkey/mashed potatoes thing, it depends who you ask. Either way, if you and yours mark this fine holiday gathering with family, friends, a little grace and a big meal, check out Montreal's public markets for inspiration.
