With over 50 boutiques spread over 14 blocks in the thick of as many restaurants, bars and nightclubs, the Montreal Gay Village has a quirky shopping destination/unconventional strip mall side to it. Set aside a couple of hours for the shopping and supplement the experience with a terrace visit or restaurant meal area for full effect. The naughtier among you will surely enjoy (and "stumble" on) Priape, and look out for the following personal favorites:

frip frap
Store type: thrift shop, used and new clothing, both genders
1387 Ste. Catherine East
Phone: (514) 522-8355

Albatroz
Store type: internationally imported knick knack shop (e.g., masks, hookahs, incense, etc.)
1215 Ste. Catherine East
Phone: (514) 524-4505

For a listing of all boutiques, complete with a street map of the Gay Village, consult Queer Montreal INFO, published by John Woolfrey.
