Question: Why am I getting a ticket if someone else was driving my car?!
Answer: Montreal's photo radars take pictures of the license plate number on the car. Thus, the owner of the vehicle is the one who receives the ticket and resulting fine. However, if someone else was driving the car and that person is willing to sign a specific form that is sent with the ticket, the fine is then transferred to that person, who then has the option to contest the ticket or not. Either way, as long as they signed the form that transfers responsibility, you're no longer involved. But if said driver refuses to sign the form, then unfortunately, you'll still be involved in the case. You can contest the ticket though and claim the driver was not you, which means you and the person you claim was driving will both be invited to a court hearing.
