Question: Do the police automatically issue a ticket if Montreal's photo radars activate?
Answer: Activating Montreal's photo radars into snapping a shot of your vehicle -- and it doesn't take much to set off the cameras -- does not necessarily mean you will be issued a ticket. Each case is reviewed by the Sûreté du Québec police force before any tickets are sent out -- within a 30-day period -- and resulting fines are charged if they confirm, after a visual review, that an infraction occurred. But it must be said, neither the Sûreté nor Transports Québec have made it explicitly clear how much over the speed limit is considered sufficient to warrant an infraction.
