Les FrancoFolies de Montréal -- not to be confused with Les Francofolies de Spa and de La Rochelle, two music festivals in France -- is one of Montreal's most important festivals, attracting almost one million spectators over the course of 11 days, running July 30 through August 9 in 2009, a grand celebration of the best in French music from Quebec and abroad every summer around the end of July and early August. FrancoFolies has been offering a series of indoor shows as well as close to 200 free outdoor concerts in Montreal's downtown core, increasing in size, scope and popularity since its first edition in 1989. And thousands of musicians have since graced the French music festival, including:
- Pierre Lapointe
- Amadou & Mariam
- Jean Leloup
- Louise Forestier
- Thomas Fersen
- Les Rita Mitsouko
- Serge Fiori
- Daniel Bélanger
- Jane Birkin
- Ariane Moffatt
- Indochine
- Alain Bashung
- Patricia Kaas
- Beau Dommage

Getting to Les FrancoFolies de Montreal
Here's a map of the FrancoFolies festival perimeter, which is actually a similar setup to the Montreal Jazz Festival. The closest metro to the center of outdoor concert action is Place-des-Arts Metro (Jeanne-Mance exit). As for indoor shows, they're scattered at different venues between Place-des-Arts Metro and St. Laurent Metro.
