Comedy Festival Montreal Just for Laughs: 2014 Edition
The comedy festival Montreal is best known for runs July 9 to July 28, 2014.

I've got my Just for Laughs 2014 lineup recommendations properly lined up for your inspection. And if you're curious, here's who you missed at the 2013 edition.

Free Outdoor Events at the 2014 Just For Laughs Festival Edition
Every Just for Laughs edition features a slew of outdoor events: live comedy, circus arts with clowns and acrobats, sideshow antics, peeps on stilts, street dancing and more, usually each weekend of the festival at Place des Festivals. And as with the 2012 edition, organizers decided to go all out in 2013 by extending the free outdoor festivities from the usual couple of weekends. In 2013, outdoor street events ran the duration of the entire festival. Expect the same for the 2014 edition (TO BE CONFIRMED).

Stand-Up Deal in 2014: The Comedy Overload Pass
The best deal of the fest is within budgetary reach considering everything that comes with it. Score a Just for Laughs Comedy Overload Pass. It's $175 if purchased by May 12, 2014 and $199 after that. That price gives you access to the VIP section of three shows of your choice as well as some freebies AND access to last-minute show tickets for as little as $5. Another package deal is the JFL Passport set at $99 which includes access to two shows of your choice and access to last-minute show tickets for as little as $5. JFL Overload Pass and Passport details here.

Off JFL: One Ticket for $20, Two Tickets for $30
2014 RATES TO BE CONFIRMED. In the vein of Off Broadway is Just for Laughs new Off JFL programming featuring talent who haven't quite made the cover of Variety or Vanity Fair but are well on their way. For example, my revelation of 2012, Rory Scovel was on the 2013 off JFL roster.

Getting Around the Just For Laughs Festival
Several downtown Montreal venues are hosting different shows. In case of directional doubt, call (514) 845-2322 or 1-888-244-3155 for assistance. But getting to Just For Laughs' free street events is a cinch. Street arts are concentrated at Place des Festivals. By public transit, just get off at Place-des-Arts metro station and take the Jeanne-Mance exit, which will bring you right in the heart of the street events.
