The Fantasia Film Fest is back in full fright, is the Jazz Fest ever not fabulous, and you think Just For Laughs imports Martin Short, John Cleese and will stick around long enough for a T-Rex?

Montreal Music, Concerts and Live Shows in July
-M- is booked for five nights, Beyonce for one, Depeche Mode has still got it, Circus features Martin Roth and we've got Cambodian pop rock with Dengue Fever. It's also the season for free outdoor shows, with Nuits d'Afrique, Divers/Cité, 'Les Weekends du Monde' and the Jazz Festival spoiling us with hundreds of concerts. And Les FrancoFolies, is dedicating the fest to the late, great Bashung.

The dragon boat racing festival is a great outdoor activity for the whole family, fireworks are on every Saturday, kids go nuts over the Just for Laughs' street events, Parc Jean-Drapeau's Les Weekends du Monde could do the trick, and don't forget the fireworks!

July features a tango fest, more outdoor ballroom dancing and the return of Repercussions Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park. In the circus department, it's last call for Cirque du Soleil's 'OVO' but at least Les 7 doigts de la main will flip around the Old Port for a few weeks more. And just north of the city is an enchanting production by the name of 'SAKA' ...

Star-gazing freebies continue courtesy of the International Year of Astronomy and the Montreal Planetarium, the Biodôme is still featuring Madagascar's threatened ecosystem, pirates live on at Pointe-à-Callière and the man behind one of the most inspirational films I've ever seen, Academy Award winner Frédéric Back, is highlighted at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
