Wolfing down a hot dog while ogling a modified hot rod, there's no other place like the Orange Julep in Montreal. Or Canada. Or anywhere else for that matter. A tradition as old as the three-story fiberglass fruit that hosts the weekly event, the Julep's informal car show competes with a big orange glow and a joy-inducing mystery beverage every spring, summer and fall Wednesday.
Attracting families, car buffs, nostalgics, and a cross-section of most age groups, I dropped by Orange Julep myself on a hot and sticky August eve. And I lucked out. That night featured great finds, from a Ford '37 with Corvette engine to Simon Templar's ride to four AC Cobra replicas!
