It's true. Even mere untrained mortals like us can pull off these post-meal dinner guest showstoppers. Photo courtesy of Je t'aime en chocolat © Andrea Doucet DonidaChocolate cocktails. Love the theory. Fear the practice. The idea of even attempting one intimidates me into mixology paralysis. So when I scored a couple of recipes from Montreal's chief chocolate show reps who brought in local mixology team MadeWithLove Exclusive to show the masses how to do it, it dawned on me how simple -- think duh simple -- the actual mixing aspect was: combine ingredients in a shaker, shake, serve.
The catch, apart from one of these drinks requiring raw egg? If anything, the most complex aspect of making these original chocolate cocktail creations is scoring the ingredients. Or in some cases, preparing the ingredients. So I went out of my way to find out where you can buy key items in Montreal, specifically the chocolate, which needs to be high end to produce the desired taste and texture. I also did some research into how to concoct other key ingredients at home.
