The Santa Claus Parade, Montreal's Défilé du Père Noël, is the city's most popular procession every year. It's also considered the biggest Christmas event in the province of Quebec. Photo by Flickr user MarkaudExpect crowds to reach six figures for Montreal's 2012 Santa Claus Parade coming up this Saturday, November 17 as families across the city converge with children in tow for a sight of Father Christmas. And if I were you, I'd try to get to Ste. Catherine Street by 10:30 a.m. to give the kids a chance to get a decent view of the floats, especially if you're planning on catching the parade near the McGill College intersection. And bundle up. Saturday morning temperatures will likely be in the negatives.
But if you're running late, head for either the tail end of the parade or closer to the beginning point. Crowds are significantly thinner on both ends.
