Montreal's concert listing in August features several big tickets at the Bell Centre, including New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne. Kevin Winter / Getty ImagesMontreal's August 2011 concerts listing is not quite as packed as say, June and July with their back-to-back music fest marathon, but there's still plenty of gigs for all tastes, from bluesman Gary Clark Jr. to brocore-pegged Emmure to the Hard Summer Tour's electro lineup featuring Digitalism, Caspa, Jack Beats and Destructo.
Big tickets run the gamut of pop with Janet Jackson and Britney Spears to mainstream rock with Foo Fighters and Blink-182 to a dash of hip hop with formerly gifted student/recently incarcerated superstar Lil Wayne.
Local soft spots of the month go to St. Jérôme's electrorock goofs Pif Paf Hangover, The Unsettlers' resident howler/accordeon player Satosh Lalonde's other project, Bad Uncle, and Belgrave, one of Montreal's newer indie scene up-and-comers.
Other highlights include Swede Lovissa Samuelsson's could-be-lullabies, Santa Barbara's Gardens & Villa's indier-than-indie, Imelda May's rockabilly sensibility and gentle folk by fellow Nova Scotians Christina Martin and Greg MacPherson.
