Canada Day in Montreal: Things To Do on La Fête du Canada

Monday June 29, 2009
The Canada Day Parade Montreal has been hosting since 1977 will take place on Wednesday, July 1st, at 11 a.m. starting at the corner of Fort and Ste. Catherine. All the exciting details -- think heavily frosted cake -- are just below.

Meanwhile, a slew of freebies -- more cake -- will be in effect at the Old Port as of 9 a.m. until midnight-ish. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m. near the Bonsecours Bassin, complemented by a group of Bollywood dancers, an unnamed "techno opera singer", an appearance by Lulu Hugues, stimulating stunts with Les 7 doigts de la main and a chance to learn how to dance like this. More highlights are listed below as well as a link to the schedule.

And if this isn't enough, The Montreal Jazz Festival's free outdoor concerts will be in full swing with amazing acts like Creature and Vic Vogel & Le Jazz Big Band both playing Wednesday night.
