Canada Day Holiday: Parade Followed by Cake

Monday June 30, 2008
Montreal's annual Canada Day Parade will take place tomorrow, July 1st, at 11 a.m. starting at the corner of Fort and Ste. Catherine. Scheduled to last until 12:30 p.m, be sure to follow the parade as it moves along Ste. Catherine, all the way to Peel turning south down to René-Lévesque, ending at Place du Canada. Three giant cakes will be waiting at the parade's tail end to feed up to 3,000 Canada Day enthusiasts followed by a multicultural show. All activities (and cake) are free.

The Old Port is also host to over 200 free activities, from 8 a.m. to approximately midnight, including face painting and mini-car racing for kids, a free multicultural food fair, BMX biking and skateboarding demos performed by some of the country's top athletes on an elevated ramp, a salsa dance session for all and much more. Consult the schedule for details.

And if the above isn't enough to keep you occupied, check out some of the Montreal Jazz Festival's free outdoor shows.

Happy Canada Day!

Excuse me, please, is it an error that it’s mentioned the Parade is scheduled to last until 12:30pm(not am?)?
But I would like to thank you very much for providing information about Parade and events for Canada Day in Montreal. I’ve found it’s very difficult to get the information about this Holiday events on Montreal official sites and this is not good(at least what I could say). Thank you again and have a great day tomorrow!

Hi Margarita!

You’re welcome! It’s my pleasure.

To answer your query, the parade only lasts about 90 minutes so yes, it does end at 12:30 p.m. but there’s the cake and the multicultural show afterward if you follow the parade to the end. And you can always go down to the Old Port as well and check out the 200+ activities on hand. Have a great Canada Day!
