Too Much Snow - Leave Your Cars at Home

By March 9, 2008

Look outside. Better yet, don't look outside.

Yesterday's snowfall reminds me of high school, when my best friend at the time, an ex-pat from Finland, asked me after yet another Montreal blizzard, "How do you get through the winters here?" She has since moved to Toronto.

With over 30 cm of new snow since Friday night, Montreal officials are asking car owners to use public transit or carpool for the next 48 hours to facilitate the city's snow removal efforts, slated to begin Monday and expected to take all week. By the look of things, do you even want to shovel your cars out of their respective pits?

Meanwhile, Environment Canada is calling for yet more snow in Montreal over the weekend and later in the week.

For spring breakers scheduled to fly away from winter woes, do double-check your flight departures at the Montreal-Trudeau Airport in case of a delay or cancellation as many flights were grounded last week.
